Molly Jenson When you hear the first track, “Give It Time” from Molly Jenson’s spectacular debut album “Maybe Tomorrow”, you cannot help but be transported to another place and time. A time when the waltzing piano was the rising and setting of your summer days, the drum beat the pounding of your heart as you raced through the streets with your companions and firm guitar-strumming signalled the transition of something old into something new.
This singer-songwriter has not just slotted herself into the long list of women to create an ingénue sound; Jenson has created a sound completely unique and true to herself. Not just a lady who, “Sings a really nice soprano”, Jenson has smashed a hole in the world and beginning to build space for her own room.
There is not a track that does not stand out in Jenson’s album; each one has life and breath, each act it’s own separate creature. This album cannot be labelled. Though Christian influences run strong within in, there is no way that a song like, “Wednesday” will not move the soul of anyone that hears it, “I pray you find your way/Back home/Find your way back home”.
There is no emptiness within this album; Jenson has made sure that there is meaning and a message behind every song. You cannot help but feel that the artist has laid her soul bare in hopes that you will be touched deeply.
Like a friend reaching out her hand Molly Jenson will draw you in with her reassuringly soft, sweet vocals and walk with you as you travel and adventure down the vast path that is “Maybe Tomorrow”.
Whether you will be driving or playing karaoke to, “The Edgy 8 Ball Song”, or waiting in the silence for breakthrough to “Wait For You Here”, there is no way that Molly Jenson’s lullaby’s will not be the organic cotton comforter you need in this new season.
